THE BIG PICTURE

1. Going from Zero to Three Newsletters (and 22,000+ Subscribers)

Last week, I discussed why I changed my mind on newsletters on a 2-hour Twitter/ X space discussion hosted by Small Bets.

I also talked about how I think about starting, writing, and growing newsletters to over 22,000 subscribers (organically and using paid ads).

Here’s a post on Twitter/ X I published yesterday that summarizes the main takeaways. Click below to read it.

GROWTH TACTICS

2. Different Audience = Different Ad Copy

You can sell the same offer to different audiences by tweaking the language of your ad copy so it's more relevant to each

For example.

I'm pre-launching a new version of my flagship course.

It's about how to write a nonfiction book in 4 weeks (using special AI techniques to write it in your own voice)

And I have 3 newsletters

One about side gigs, one about leadership, and one about AI.

Instead of sending the same ad to everyone, I tweak the headlines:

  • Side Gig Hacks newsletter (this one): "Write a bestselling book on the side"

  • Leadership 80/20 newsletter: "Elevate your status as a leader by writing a book"

  • AI for Leaders newsletter: "Write a book quickly using AI"

Same offer. Different ad copy. More presales.

(Actual example: see the ad copy in this next section 🙂 )

COURSE UPDATE

3. Write a Bestselling Book on the Side

I just pre-launched the next iteration of my “4-Week Write Your Book on the Side” system.

It’s a course that will help you write and publish a bestselling nonfiction book in just four weeks (using AI to write it quickly and in your own voice).

The course used so be a live cohort-based course, but I’m now building a couple of different versions of it (with updated content).

There will be limited seats when I launch it so if you’re interested in getting notified as soon as it’s out, click here to fill in your info:

ONE-MINUTE HACKS

5. A Quick Side Gig Hack You Can Apply Today

Forget fancy tools.

Just use the one you already know.

New tools waste your time and give you excuses to procrastinate.

For example:

I still use Microsoft Word to write all my books (I’ve written over 20, including a few bestsellers on Amazon). Any simple word processor would work just fine.

I still use an old version of PowerPoint to record all my courses (I’ve published over 15, including some that are top-rated on Udemy). Any basic presentation app would do.

You can always upgrade later.

Just start with what you’ve got today.
